Intro:
“Where is home and what do I consider home?” with this age-old question began the meeting of André Jolles from Germany and Kefa Oiro from Kenya. A ritual, Bugobogobo, helped them to find answers.

Synopsis:

André Jolles and Kefa Oiro were willing to start a long journey, tracing back their ancestors. The two meet on the occasion of Bugobogobo, a traditional ritual, held by the Sukuma Tribe of northern Kenya. It is an event that collectively brings elements of nature and community together through of a process of farming, cooperation, sacrifice and celebration.
Through movement, music and construction, Oiro and Jolles used Bugobogobo as catalyst for telling their stories, connecting with their past, reconstructing memories, and dealing with cultural differences, religion, language and personal transformation.
